After making up a shortlist of heavyweight directors, Summit Entertainment could be close to finally picking a director for The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn.

I previously reported that Gus Van Sant, Sofia Coppola and Bill Condon were in the running and it looks like Bill has won the race.

It’s not definite yet but Variety is reporting that Dreamgirls director Bill is in final discussions about taking on directing duties for the final film of the vampire franchise. But if the rumours of a planned split of the final movie into two then he’ll have to sign on for both as part of the deal.

This will probably mean that his planned Salmon Fishing In The Yemen, an adaptation of Paul Torday’s novel, will have to take a backseat while Bill directs moody teenage vampires.
