Enchanted Sequel Gets Director And Writer

After making an obscene $340 million worldwide, Enchanted will get a sequel so that Disney can milk it for all it’s worth.

The Proposal director Anne Fletcher has signed on to helm Enchanted 2 which will be penned by Jessie Nelson, writer of weepy drama Stepmom.

The film will most likely still use traditional 2D animation in conjunction with live action filming as was done in the first movie.

Variety reports that although the studio haven’t made deals with anyone regarding casting, they are hoping to entice the original cast members Amy Adams, Patrick Dempsey, James Marsden and Susan Sarandon to come back to the project.

I’m also kind of hoping that Idina Menzel will also return as Nancy Tremaine considering her character travelled to the animated world of Andalasia to marry James Marsden’s character Edward at the end of the first film.

Will we get to see more of the 2D world of choreographed singing animals? Only time will tell, and it could be a while considering the trouble that plagued the first movie in it’s early stages. It went through several directors and more than a few rewrites, so here’s hoping Fletcher and Nelson stick with it or we’ll be hanging around forever.

Trouble Brewing On Burlesque Set?

Sources around the set of Burlesque are reporting that there’s a storm brewing pop star Christina Aguilera and pop Queen Cher as both are vying for the spotlight.

An anonymous source told the National Enquirer that, “Cher’s also become instant pals with her dancers, while Christina barely utters a word to them and has been behaving like a total diva. Everyone on the set loves Cher — but most of them think Christina is a stuck-up upstart.”

Oooh, them’s fighting words. Looks like a cat fight is imminent between the 29 year-old star and the 63 year-old legend, it might be hard to tell when Cher’s angry though, she’s had so much plastic surgery she’s practically a mannequin.

“Christina’s jealousy is ripping the production apart. The movie contains many musical numbers and while Christina has been great, Cher’s come in and knocked them all out of the ballpark.”

Wow, it’s like Bette Davis and Joan Crawford all over again only without the exceptional acting abilities.

Meryl Streep’s Gangsta Threat To Bullock Over Oscars

The award season can be a stressful time for a nominee: press events, constant phone calls, meetings, dress fittings and the occasional death threat from other potential winners.

Sandra Bullock, Oscar nommed for The Blind Side, joked to Us Magazine that she and rival Meryl Streep, nommed for Julie And Julia, had been sending each other threatening messages.

“With Meryl, when this whole thing started, I left her a voicemail going, ‘You’ve got to watch your back. I’m gonna cut you. I’m gonna take you down’.”

Hardly the words befitting of an Academy Award nominee. But then Bullock revealed that Meryl, who’s already won a little baldie, hit back with some harsh words.

“And then she sent me dead orchids and told me to die, so I sent her a case of liquor and told her to toast to white trash.”

Her words may all be in jest but wouldn’t it be better if Meryl was secretly gangsta like that, just rolling past Sandra’s house late at night with her crew? Unfortunately, Sandra went on to reveal that really everyone BFFs.

“You have to enjoy being with these women that you admire or love or like or have had friendships with or are just getting to know because you’ve got to take care of each other. No-one, at least the people who I’ve met, no-one cares about the end result or the statue. It’s being able to sit in close proximity with these ladies… and we get to know each other and you laugh at the absurdity of it all.”

Patrick Stewart Doubts X-Men Return

X-Men star Patrick Stewart has revealed that he doesn’t expect to appear in the new franchise, X-Men: First Class.

At an Australian Trekkie convention, Stewart revealed that he doesn’t expect to be included in the project which is still in early development.

We’re still hopeful though and are praying for at least a cameo from Stewart, hoping he’ll reprise his role as Professor Charles Xavier, the wheelchair bound leader of the X-Men.

In X-Men III: The Last Stand, Stewart and co-star Ian McKellan were made to appear more youthful with a little help from some CGI trickery but director Bryan Singer claims that it wouldn’t be enough this time around.

Singer will be focusing the new movie on the lives of the mutants as they were younger which clearly means that Stewart won’t be looking as fresh-faced as the cast that would surround him. Stewart joked that the director will be hiring eight-year-olds to fill the roles according to TrekMovie.com

Hammer Films Bring Woman In Black To Big Screen

Spooky West End thriller The Woman In Black is to get it’s big screen debut thanks to Hammer Films who have announced that they will produce it as a feature.

The original novel by Susan Hill follows Arthur Kipps, a young lawyer who’s sent to deal with a deceased clients paperwork. But staying in the client’s remote house drags up some terrible secrets.

It’s a real ghost story and it’s chilling atmosphere causes patrons to jump out of their seats at the Fortune theatre where the stage production of the book is still playing. Stardust scribe Jane Goldman will pen the screenplay and Eden Lake’s James Watkins will direct but no word on casting just yet.

Hammer President and CEO Simon Oakes commented on the project, “’The Woman in Black’ is an iconic British horror story, and so makes a perfect match for Hammer. Jane Goldman has written a terrific screenplay and with James Watkins at the helm, we feel that this feature adaptation of Susan Hill’s classic novel will be both dynamic and terrifying.”

Underworld Writer Reanimates Frankenstein

Braaaiiiins! Braaaiiiins!

Oh wait, that was zombies, wasn’t it? Well if you can’t remember what it is Frankenstein’s monster was after either, then we can find out together when the story returns to the big screen in I, Frankenstein.

The story of a man-made monster will come back to life with soft-spoken Kevin Grevioux penning the script and visual effects wizard Patrick Tatopoulos directing.

The project will re-team Kevin and Patrick after having worked on the Underworld triology together, the third of which was Patrick’s first time in the director’s chair. Tom Rosenberg, Lakeshore chairman and CEO, will produce with president Gary Lucchesi and Richard Wright.

Patrick said in a statement that, “It is a privilege to be given the chance to direct this highly visual piece. Kevin Grevioux has created something truly special with I, Frankenstein and I couldn’t dream of a better team than my friends at Lakeshore to make this project happen.”

Kevin said of the film, “The re-imagining of the Frankenstein mythos and the diverse creatures of legend is a dream project for me. I’m blessed and thankful that both Tom and Gary really sparked to the material and recognised this property’s potential as not only a film, but a launch pad for various multi-media platforms.”

The script will be based on Kevin’s upcoming graphic novel of the same name which will be released under Darkstorm Studios. So far, no shooting dates have been announced nor have any cast members been confirmed.

Zachary Quinto To Be Gershwin?

Heroes villain, Zachary Quinto, has reportedly signed on to play legendary American composer George Gershwin according to DeadlineHollywood.

The project will most likely be helmed by Steven Spielberg but I’m waiting on confirmation, meanwhile Quinto is on board with writer Doug Wright and producer Marc Platt.

Dreamworks have the rights to the project and are already trying to arrange accent and dialogue coaches to help Quinto get the right sound for the Brooklyn born music man. Gershwin, whose most famous piece of music was Rhapsody In Blue, died at 38 of a brain tumour.

No word yet on who will be playing his brother Ira Geshwin with whom he often collaborated.

Can we expect more of these types of projects from Quinto in the future? Probably, since he’s decided to stay away from the Star Trek press circuit for a while. Trekkies got their panties in a twist when the star announced that, “I’m stepping away from Star Trek for at least two years – no movies, no conventions, no anything for a while.”

Calm down, he wrote in his blog that he actually meant, ‘Obviously i will be a part of any upcoming films… reprising my role as Spock. What i meant was that in the meantime i won’t be making any public appearances related to the franchise – or doing any more auxiliary projects pertaining to the Trek universe.’

Caligula Director To Make 3D Porn Movie?

Italian not-so-much stallion Tinto Brass, is to take 3D filmmaking to the next level by adding boobs.

The HollywoodReporter states that the director of famed historical erotic mess Caligula, will make a what apparently will be the finest pornographic production ever and it’ll be in 3D.

The 76-year-old is known for his erotic style when it comes to films but we think that there are certain things that maybe shouldn’t be in 3D if you know what we mean.

Remember Friday 13th Part III in 3D? In one scene where there was nothing happening, someone poked a TV aerial at the camera. I don’t want certain other things poking out at me from the screen if you catch my drift.

Brass has hinted that it could be a remake of Caligula which was a critical and financial flop despite having a stellar cast including Helen Mirren and Malcolm McDowell. He’s said that he wants to “revisit an abandoned project about a Roman emperor that was ruined by Americans, and go from there.”

We probably won’t catch this at the cinema but might rent it for viewing in the privacy of our own homes.

Rogen And Williams Waltz In New Romance Flick

Brokeback Mountain star Michelle Williams is set to star with sexy ugly Seth Rogen in a new romantic movie reports Deadline Hollywood.

They reported today that Away From Her director Sarah Polley has secured backing for her next project Take This Waltz. The script made the 2009’s black list (a compilation of the best unproduced scripts of the year) and Rogen and Williams have signed on to play two corners of a love triangle with the third to be cast shortly.

Rogen is yet to take a strictly serious dramatic lead in a movie and as the buzz on this project indicates, it’s not romantic comedy, so he’ll have to keep his funny to himself. Williams however has been steadily making her way up the acting ladder ever since she left hit teen drama Dawson’s Creek and ultimately propelling her to an Oscar nomination in 2006 for Brokeback.

She’s mostly played the indie circuit but with the upcoming Shutter Island pairing her with Leonardo Di Caprio, will she be headed for the Oscars once more?

Away From Her also garnered Polley an Oscar nomination for best screenplay so let’s see if this latest project will see her waltzing her way to a win.

Sex And The City 3 Fast-Tracked?

The rumour mill was working at full capacity this morning with buzz about Sex And The City.

A source reportedly told The Sun that the third and final installment of the series will begin shooting soon. But apparently the reasoning behind it is so that when we get the third film the actresses aren’t too old.

“There is also a third movie on the go. It’s under wraps for publicity reasons. It makes sense to film the second and third movies back-to-back. The characters will look a lot younger on screen when the third movie is out in a couple of years.”

Ouch. Just when women in Hollywood thought it was safe to go outside. Having said that, I’m not too sure we want to see Kim Cattrall shagging half of Manhattan as the promiscuous Samantha; she’s 53 don’t you know.
