Next Harry Potter Movies To Be In 3D!

OK, mustn’t get too excited, need to calm down…

Ah screw it, the next Harry Potter films will be in 3D! Rejoice, rejoice!

Alright, it’s not officially confirmed but give it a few days and it will be because Warner Bros. have been seriously considering it. The cost of converting a film into 3D has come down a bit recently to about $5 million, which, considering how much money these films are going to make, is going to seem like a drop in the ocean.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the 3D tests for Clash of The Titans went down very well with executives and we’re waiting on final confirmation for that, so it’s looking really good for Potter.

Luckily, part one of The Deathly Hallows is slated for a November release so there’s plenty of time to convert the footage in 3D. But will they bother to convert the previous films? Here’s hoping.

Mariah Carey Blames 9/11 For Glitter Fail

Singer turned actress Mariah Carey has blamed the events of 9/11 for the flop of her semi-autobiographical film Glitter at the box office.

According to the Press Assosciation, Mariah said, “Here’s the thing that a lot of people don’t know, that movie was released on September 11, 2001 – could there be a worse day for that movie to come out?”

That’s a fair point Mariah, but people saw it on DVD and it was still pants.

“I don’t think it’s the worst thing ever done. I don’t think it’s the best thing ever done. If I could go back in time and not do it, yeah, I would definitely not do it. But at the time, I was auditioning for smaller roles and wanting to do more independent things. But everybody was like, ‘No, she’s too well known. She’s going to take us out of the movie.’”

I understand Mariah, I really do. And from the buzz that’s been going around about her performance in Precious, I’m willing to give her another chance, ’cause who knows, this could be the start of a beautiful friendship.

Twilight’s Kristen Stewart Talks Dakota Kiss

Twilight’s Kristen Stewart has been a busy little bee recently. Not only did she star in the vampire flick and it’s sequel, New Moon, but also managed to star in Adventureland last year too.

Well next up she’s starring with Dakota Fanning in the true story of 70’s singer Joan Jett and her band, The Runaways. Except there’s a bit more than drama getting people excited about this story.

There’s a little smooching that goes on between Kristen and Dakota, but apparently that wasn’t all fun and games. According to E!’s Mark Malkin, Kristen has said, “In this story, it’s so not like a romantic thing. It’s just something that they just do.”

Fair enough, though to some it might seem a little weird because Kristen is 19 and Dakota is still just 15, too much?

“We had so many other really crazy things that we were intimidated by, like, we had a performance that day. So when that came up on the schedule we were like, ‘Whoa!’ But then, ‘Alright, whatever.’ It was sort of just like another thing.”

I understand her performance anxiety over singing more than a little public smooching. I get down with karaoke but if I knew someone was filming it, it’d be a different story.

Avatar Sinks Titanic’s Box Office Record

Well it’s finally happened folks. James Cameron is officially the King of the world.

Avatar has at last taken the highest grossing worldwide title from Cameron’s other top earner, Titanic. While the exact figures aren’t available right now, it seems that it’s taken roughly $1.843 billion, just tipping Titanic’s $1.84 billion.

Avatar hasn’t taken the US top domestic grossing title yet, but give it a few weeks and it’ll have taken that as well.

I wonder how Cameron felt when he heard the news. He probably didn’t hear the phone as he was swimming in his swimming in his money, Scrooge McDuck stylee.

With such success under his belt, we’re wondering how Cameron is planning to top this new record in the future.

His next slated feature, Battle Angel, looks interesting but can it top the 3D wonders of Pandora?

Ronan Keating In The Hobbit?

Boyzone’s Ronan Keating has revealed to The Sun that he has plans to break into acting and wants to move to LA to do it.

Though currently on tour in Australia, Ronan said that he and wife Yvonne plan to move with their children in the Summer. “We are going there in July, Yvonne and the kids. We’ll get the kids enrolled in school there.”

But the big scoop came when Ronan said that he’s up for a part in Guillermo Del Toro’s LOTR prequel, The Hobbit.

“It may be for six months or we could even give it a year. We’ll see what happens. I’ve done a couple of castings, I’ve done an audition for The Hobbit. That starts shooting in New Zealand in July so we’d be based there for quite a while instead of LA if it happens.”

Wha? I have no idea if Ronan has the chops for acting but I’m more concerned over who he’d play. Let me know who you think Ronan Keating could play in the upcoming prequel by dropping a comment down below.

Stars Out For The SAG Awards

As the shiny bald head of an Oscar statuette shines just out of reach, the SAG awards were the latest ceremony to indicate who the front-runners are for winning a little bald guy of their very own.

The men wear tuxes and the women getting glammed up to within an inch of their lives, who doesn’t love an awards show?

Dishing out gongs for TV and film, the Screen Actors Guild is pretty much the next best thing to an Oscar and so I thought we’d give you the full list of nominees and winners.

New Conan The Barbarian, Finally

Take a look into those big beautiful eyes ladies because this is Jason Momoa and he’s our new Conan!

So in our future we’ve got those eyes, a hot body (trust me, I’ve been oogling, I mean Googling him all morning) and loincloths. Doesn’t get better than that.

According to Deadline Hollywood, Jason, star of Stargate: Atlantis, reportedly beat out Twilight’s Kellan Lutz and Supernatural’s Jared Padalecki for the role.

Marcus Nispel, director of Pathfinder, will be directing the upcoming film which will begin shooting in Bulgaria in March after production delays dating back to 2002. I guess good things come to those who wait.

To be fair, I wasn’t too excited about the production of a new Conan the Barbarian movie (I was happy with Arnie’s oh so cheesy 1982 version) but when I saw Jason, I could suddenly see it’s appeal. The new film is set to have plenty of fantasy based sword swinging, heroic action and if Pathfinder’s bloody Viking action is anything to go by, this should be a good time all round.

Alcon Entertainment Develops ‘Late Bloomer’

We all know that in real life, puberty is never fun.

But we also know that puberty in a film is always funny, which is why I put on my happy face this morning when I heard about one man’s true story of going through the whole of puberty in just three weeks.

Blessing or curse? Getting it over with in three weeks or going through agony and humiliation for three weeks?

Ken Baker was 27 when he finally experienced puberty due a tumour on his pituitary gland that was preventing his male hormones for doing their thing. After an operation to remove the tumour he went through the entire course of puberty that most people experience over a matter of years in just three weeks. Now his book, ‘Man Made: A Memoir’ will be turned into a movie by Alcon Entertainment, according to Variety.

Gary Rosen has written a dramatic script around Ken’s story but Alcon have changed their minds and want to take it down a comedic route. Joe Nussbaum (pictured), director of Sydney White and American Pie: Naked Mile, will pen a new script for Alcon but no word yet on whether he’ll direct.

Clash Of The Titans To Be In 3D?

Sam Worthington, star of 3D spectacular Avatar, is a good looking man and he’s better in 3D, so I turned into a silly goose when I heard that his latest film could be in 3D too.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, executives at Warner Bros. will apparently watch sample scenes of Clash of the Titans in 3D and decided whether or not the film should go through a speedy 3D conversion, in time for a Summer release.

And I can hardly blame them; with the industry leaning further into the 3D camp it’s only a matter of time until we just expect movies to be coming out at us from the screen every time.

But on the other hand it is a costly process and can take a long time to convert a film, so we’re on our way but we’ve still some work to do.

Iron Man 2 had the same debate going and it looks like it won’t be getting the 3D treatment but fingers crossed for Titans and Iron Man 3.

Final BAFTA Noms Announced

Well the BAFTA nominations have been whittled down from the list I previously told you about to create the final list of nominees for this year’s awards.

While not everyone that I hoped had made it through to the final round of voting (Nowhere Boy’s Aaron Johnson) but it looks like a solid list of heavyweight contenders, including Johnson’s co-stars Kristin Scott-Thomas and Anne-Marie Duff.

While I’m not gonna give you the entire list, you can head over to the BAFTA site for that, I’m going to treat you to a few of the nominations for the big BAFTA prizes.
