Two New Posters For Stallone’s The Expendables

What is it with ’80s style action films this year?

The Expendables is gonna be a bit tongue in cheek with Stallone’s clever casting of pretty much everyone who likes to kick-ass in their movies, many of whom had their heyday in the ’80s.

Bruce Willis, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Steve Austin, Mickey Rourke, Jason Statham and Arnold Schwarzenegger will all be making appearances with the Rocky star.

The film will follow a team of badasses who head into South America to kick out a terrible dictator. It’ll most likely get an August release but in the meantime check out these posters, the first is provided by IGN and the second by Collider.

Toy Story 3’s Pixar Short Revealed

With the release of another Pixar movie comes another brilliant Pixar short film. Toy Story 3 will be released later this year and thanks to Comingsoon.net we’ve now got some information on the short that will start the film.

It’s called Day And Night and it’s directed by Teddy Newton. Here’s a quick synopsis:

When Day, a sunny fellow, encounters Night, a stranger of distinctly darker moods, sparks fly!

Day and Night are frightened and suspicious of each other at first, and quickly get off on the wrong foot. But as they discover each other’s unique qualities–and come to realize that each of them offers a different window onto the same world–the friendship helps both to gain a new perspective.

New Posters For Kick-Ass

I love a good poster but I have to admit, I’m not loving the new Kick-Ass posters.

Previously released artwork for the superhero movie have been, well, kick-ass, so we’re a little disappointed at the latest images.

The film follows high school loser Dave Lizewski as he tries his hand at being a superhero, not letting the fact that he has no powers stand in his way.

Calling himself Kick-Ass, he soon encounters heroes with a bit more experience and a lot more firepower than he in the shape of Big Daddy and 11-year-old daughter Hit Girl.

While I don’t digg these posters, you just might. Enjoy.

New Iron Man 2 Images

As if the new Iron Man 2 trailer wasn’t enough, I’m showing you some new poster images for the movie.

Tony Stark returns with James ‘Rhodey’ Rhodes at his side to do battle with Ivan Vanko AKA Whiplash. He’s also got to fend off the Government who want to get their mitts on the Iron Man design.

There’s gonna be explosions, scantily clad ladies, gunfights and a Russian accented Mickey Rourke. Doesn’t get much better than that.

While you’re awaiting it’s release or until I get some more stuff to show you, these will have to tide you over.

Take a look at the new Iron Man suit, has it had a few modifications to it or is this just the suitcase version we saw in the trailer?

Also check out the outfit that Rhodes will be donning when he takes on the alter ego War Machine.

Pictures From Snyder’s Legend of the Guardians

Zack Snyder, the man responsible for The Watchmen *groan*, is now behind another adaptation of a series of books called The Guardians of Ga’Hoole.

According to the film’s IMDB synopsis, it’s about, ‘Soren, a young barn owl, is kidnapped by owls of St. Aggie’s, ostensibly an orphanage, where owlets are brainwashed into becoming soldiers.

He and his new friends escape to the island of Ga’Hoole, to assist its noble, wise owls who fight the army being created by the wicked rulers of St. Aggie’s. The film is based on the first three books in the series.’

There’s been some disappointment from fans about the fact that Snyder has had to change the name to Legend of the Guardians but to be honest, they’re going to be known as ‘those owl movies’. Do It!

Leaked Photos From Twilight: Eclipse! Leg Hitch!

Well look what I dug up. Just a few photos from a little independent film coming out in July.

You might even have heard of it, it’s called The Twilight Saga: Eclipse.

Fine, fine, I know you’re absolutely champing at the bit for R-Patz and his pasty crew of vampires, so all you Twihards out there might be interested to see these pictures from the new movie.

They seem to be depicting some hanky panky going on between Edward Cullen and his lady, Bella.

I did some googling on the phrase ‘leg hitch’ and apparently that’s what’s going on here.

Does this float your boat or is it not how you pictured it? Drop a comment down below. Do It!

Disney’s Rapunzel Gets Renamed Plus Concept Art

Disney’s next picture Rapunzel, has been renamed Tangled, I’m just trying to figure out why.

The name Rapunzel instantly conjures up images of long golden hair, flowing down from a tower to the handsome prince who awaits below.

It’s a classic tale of ridiculously long yet manageable hair, but did it really need to be renamed?

I’m a little worried at the impending ‘revamping’ process that could be set in motion by the re-naming; is it the beginning of a few more big changes to the project?

I hope not; if it gets modernised, Disney could well forget why they’re making the film in the first place. The animation style is very lush and classical, unlike Disney’s last project The Princess And The Frog and I’m praying that it’s an indicator of things to come rather than just producing strictly CGI films. Do It!

How To Train your Dragon Poster

Courtesy of the beautiful people at Empire, I can show the brand new poster for Dreamworks’ new animation How To Train Your Dragon.

Set in a Viking settlement besieged by a load of fire-breathing dragons, youngster Hiccup tries to get involved in some good old-fashioned slaying but he doesn’t quite match up to the burly builds of the older Vikings.

When Hiccup manages to shoot down one of the ‘Nightwings’ what he finds he hit is actually a young, toothless puppy-like dragon.

Check out the poster and let me know if you think Dreamworks will actually give Pixar a run for its money any time soon.

New Poster For Shyamalan’s The Last Airbender

Well M. Night Shyamalan’s back folks, but something’s different.

He might not be able to end this movie with a really weak twist, it might even be good.

He’s at the helm of the upcoming The Last Airbender, which, due to James Cameron’s recent success, has had to drop the word ‘Avatar’ from it’s title.

Slated for an August 2010 release, the film is an adaptation of the popular Nickelodeon cartoon of the same name and here’s a brief synopsis from IMDB:

‘The story follows the adventures of Aang, a young successor to a long line of Avatars, who must put his childhood ways aside and stop the Fire Nation from enslaving the Water, Earth and Air nations.’

Sounds nice. Starring Slumdog Millionaire star Dev Patel, Airbender will be Shyamalan’s first adaptation and might claw him back some fans after 2008 disaster, The Happening. Anyway, thanks to the kindly folks over at Empire, here’s the latest international poster.

Stills From Scott Pilgrim vs. The World

I only read the first comic of Scott Pilgrim, so I’m not too fussed over whether or not it looks right.

But now you have the chance to question the judgement of casting Michael Cera as Scott by looking at these new pictures from the movie.

Empireonline posted these stills from Edgar Wright’s latest and from what I can tell, it looks pretty cool.

Alongside Cera is Mary-Elizabeth Winstead (Deathproof and Die Hard 4) who might finally get a break into movies of her own. She plays a great supporting role but time to step into the big leagues, Winstead.

Yes that’s right folks, that sword is on fire. On fire!
