Killers Review: Hitmen And Miss

KILLERS (12A): On General Release From Friday 18th June

I could tell by the exceptionally unimaginative poster that this was going to be another boring Katherine Heigl movie. It shows her holding a gun and looking blonde, buxom and brainless while Ashton Kutcher does his best impersonation of a gormless fish.

I’m afraid to say that the movie lived up to these very low expectations. The plot started out in beautiful Nice where recently single Jen (Heigl) is on holiday with her mum and dad (Catherine O’Hara and Tom Selleck). She runs into Spencer (Kutcher) who’s handsome and charming with a body to die for, but there’s one problem – he’s a hitman. Do It!

Smurf Movie Teaser

After seeing this brand new teaser for a new Smurf movie, we are lost for words.

There’s not too much we can say about the movie at this point – it’s more of a ’see it for yourself’ kind of thing.

According to IMDB, it’s about the adventures of a mythical race of little blue creatures that must deal with each other and humans, particularly an evil sorcerer obsessed with capturing them for his own sinister purposes.

So, pretty much exactly the same as the cartoons? Anywho, you can catch The Smurfs in smurftastic 3D in 2011.

Chronicles of Narnia: Voyage of the Dawn Treader

Lucy and Edmund Pevensie (Georgie Henley and Skandr Keynes) return to Narnia with their cousin Eustace (Will Poulter). They reunite with the dashing Prince Caspian (Ben Barnes) for a trip across the sea aboard the royal ship The Dawn Treader. Along the way they encounter dragons, dwarves, merfolk, and a band of lost warriors before reaching the edge of the world.

You can catch Voyage of the Dawn Treader 3D in cinemas from 10th December 2010, in the meantime, check out the trailer.

Don’t Tell Mom The Babysitter’s Dead Gets Remake

What’s that? You’ve never heard of this movie? Well gather round children, you’re about to get schooled.

The original movie saw a mother leave her five kids in the charge of an elderly but hard-as-nails babysitter. When said childminder goes and dies of a heart attack, it’s up to eldest child Sue Ellen (a fresh faced Christina Applegate) to provide for the family. She scams her way into a top job in fashion and tries not to get busted.

The crazy fashion alone makes this movie worth a watch. Honestly, it’s not the best movie, but it’s fun and original with everything we’ve come to expect from an 90s comedy so, of course, it’s being remade.

This remake particularly stings as it’s a personal favourite of mine but also because this new version will probably end up starring Hilary Duff or some such nonsense.

Hot-shot producer Mark Gordon is behind the movie, according to Pajiba, and he’s also the man behind the upcoming Private Benjamin remake as well as the equally pointless Don’t Look Now retooling.

I’ve got our fingers crossed that Gordon can make something fun and original happen but we won’t hold our breath.

Bullock And Reynolds Reunite For Action Comedy

Green-card romcom The Proposal saw Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds turn up the heat for some slapstick comedy and naked bodyslams and in the process they created our favourite onscreen partnership of last year.

Now it’s confirmed that the pair will be at it again in an action comedy tentatively titled Most Wanted. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Bullock will play a suspect being escorted on her way to court by Ryan Reynold’s FBI agent. The two are ambushed en route and have to go on the run together.

The Proposal director Anne Fletcher will return as well as writer Pete Chiarelli and producers David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman. Fletcher’s become a hot ticket around Hollywood as she’s also on board to direct Enchanted 2.

After having a tough time in the tabloids recently, Sandra Bullock has decided to show the press that she’s not going to just disappear after her very public divorce from her cheating skank of a husband Jesse James.

At the MTV Movie Awards, the same one that saw the return of Les Grossman, Bullock showed up to accept gongs for The Proposal. While accepting the Generation award, she wound up having a smooch with Ryan’s missus, Scarlett Johansson.

Stanley Tucci Joins Captain America Cast

Captain America: The First Avenger is shaping up nicely, especially since we got some nice costume work, and the cast list is growing by the minute.

The latest actor to make the cut is The Lovely Bones star Stanley Tucci who, according to Heat Vision Blog, has been cast as Dr. Erskine. The good doctor is the man responsible for turning Steve Rogers into Captain America using a super soldier serum created by Erskine in Project Rebirth. Well, that’s how things went down in the original comics but no one’s confirmed the exact plotline yet so we’ll have to wait and see.

Meanwhile, Tucci has also got a role in Burlesque – a movie I’ve been practising my dance moves for. It’s a musical which isn’t exactly known to be in Tucci’s wheelhouse but who knows, maybe he’ll surprise us.

Tucci will appear alongside Chris Evans, Hugo Weaving, Hayley Atwell, Tommy Lee Jones and Samuel L. Jackson when Captain America: The First Avenger hits screens in 2011.

Cruise Confirms Grossman Movie

If you saw the hilarious Tropic Thunder then you might be familiar with the overweight, foul mouthed dancing producer that is Les Grossman AKA Tom Cruise.

The character was the breakout star of the movie and now Cruise has confirmed that Grossman is getting his shot at the big time with his own film.

Talking to E Online after the MTV movie awards, Tom said, “We’re working on it. Yup, we’re working on it.”

The biggest surprise of the night was a when Cruise appeared on stage in full Grossman costume and proceeded to bust a move in his own unique style. He was soon joined on stage by The Back-Up Plan’s Jennifer Lopez and the pair danced up a storm with a routine that was full of grinding and booty spankin’. Nice.

Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Teaser!

At the recent MTV Movie awards, footage was shown from Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows and now I’m bringing it to you. This new clip has me utterly jazzed, so much so that I donned my cape, got out my wand and wrote this article for you.

In an effort to find all Horcruxes, Harry, Ron and Hermione must leave Hogwarts behind and go on a quest. But can they find them in time to stop Voldemort and his army? You can catch the next instalment of the Potter series in November but, for now, check out this footage.

Thor And Captain America Costume Art

It seems that the long-awaited Avengers gang are finally getting somewhere in terms of their own individual movies with these new images of Captain America and Thor’s costumes.

Fans have been a little skeptical about what these guys will look like because if their costumes are fully realised like they are in the comics, they might come off a little goofy. And having seen these images, I think Captain America comes off a lot better than Thor, probably because of the slightly weird photoshopping that’s been done.

The shots of Thor come from Collider and show star Chris Hemsworth in full costume, complete with crappy CGI hammer. I’m hoping it looks a hell of a lot bigger and better in the movie.

The Captain America: The First Avenger shots come from AICN and if you look closely, you’ll see that it’s actually the face of Chris Evans in the pictures, the lucky guy who won the role.

You can catch Thor in cinemas from May, 2011 and Captain America: The First Avenger from 22 July 2011.

Do It!
