The Nightmare Before Christmas 3D Blu-Ray Review: Dream Come True?

The Nightmare before Christmas 3D Blu-ray: On General Release From 3rd October 2011

It seems Disney are going all out in an effort to convince audiences that 3D is the way forward and, for the most part, it seems to be working. Disney have been carefully choosing their re-releases from the vaults and Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas seems like the perfect candidate for a 3D Blu-ray release. Though the 1993 animation is a family favourite, can it stand up to HD scrutiny?

Jack Skellington is the thin-limbed leader of the kooky cast of characters living in Halloween Town. After spending year after year surrounded by ghosts and ghouls, Jack leaves in search of something new and finds Christmas Town. When Jack convinces Halloween’s inhabitants that they should try Christmas themselves, things go horribly wrong for the expectant children of the world who instead of receiving puppies and dolls get shrunken heads and vampire teddies. Do It!

Killers Review: Hitmen And Miss

KILLERS (12A): On General Release From Friday 18th June

I could tell by the exceptionally unimaginative poster that this was going to be another boring Katherine Heigl movie. It shows her holding a gun and looking blonde, buxom and brainless while Ashton Kutcher does his best impersonation of a gormless fish.

I’m afraid to say that the movie lived up to these very low expectations. The plot started out in beautiful Nice where recently single Jen (Heigl) is on holiday with her mum and dad (Catherine O’Hara and Tom Selleck). She runs into Spencer (Kutcher) who’s handsome and charming with a body to die for, but there’s one problem – he’s a hitman. Do It!

Away We Go Review: Here We Come

AWAY WE GO on general release from 18th September 2009

Don’t get tired of indie movies just yet because there’s still at least one left this year.

Burt and Verona are in their mid-thirties and haven’t a care in the world until they (well, Verona) unexpectedly become pregnant.

But unlike other movies with the same concept, it isn’t a huge problem. When Burt’s parents suddenly announce that they’re going off to live in Belgium, they decide to travel across the US in order to be close to friends and to find out what kind of parents they will be.

Don’t be afraid of this movie. It may be indie, it may be a romcom, but it’s unique: the couple in it don’t just like each other but are genuinely in love.

There’re also no abortion debates to be had and they’re not about to separate from the pressure. I’m telling you this going in because this is the film’s defining feature that, not only makes it stand out from the crowd, but makes you love every inch of this movie. Do It!
